"Distinguished Practitioner Feature. Spotlight on: Liesl Anderson"
" According to most studies, peoples number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy." Jerry Seinfeld
Liesl Anderson practices at Peacefromwithin in Hillsboro, Oregon. Her speciality is helping people overcome fear of public speaking using hypnosis, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Rapid Eye Technology (RET). Liesl has been a life long student of human behavior and emotional health. Her passion is " to help those suffering to find freedom from fear and pain."
Trained in both the arons and elman induction, she prefers the former, as do most of her clients, because , she says, the relaxation is "like heaven". Liesl became interested in hypnosis while training in guided imagery in her RET training. She recognized the power of combining RET and EFT with hypnosis. Her programs are much like a 3 course meal, frequently using all 3 techniques with most of her clients.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, Liesl conducts her practice as a "holistic life skills coach" and Craigs List is her best source of client referrals (and free)! (Like Pnosis's directory -- check it out!) Her course of sessions typically ranges from 4 to 6 sessions, for fear of public speaking, and reports that her clients unifirmly report that their conquest of the fear is sustained 3 to 6 months later.
Liesl has recently finished the first draft of a book on conquering fear of public speaking using hypnosis, EFT and Rapid Eye. Pnosis congratulates Liesl Anderson on being recongnized as a distinguished practitioner!" Pnosis.com

Using Rapid Eye Technology to Create New Neural Pathways
Have you ever noticed that when you get up in the morning you have a definite routine that you go through? If you change your routine, you may wonder if you have forgotten anything. Once you establish a neural pathway, your subconscious mind puts the routine on automatic – saving energy in the process.
What is a neural pathway?
Neurons are nerve cells that transmit nerve signals to and from and within the brain. The pathways along which information travels through the neurons (nerve cells) of the brain are neural pathways. We create, recreate, and destroy many pathways every day.
A smell, for instance, can remind us of a time in our life that something happened good or bad and this can cause us to react differently.
We are taught in personal development to live in the NOW, but this is a very new and unfamiliar neural pathway for us and can take some re-programming to set in concrete.

- Pick a resolution YOU really want. Make sure you are invested 100% in this goal. If you are doing it for your wife/husband, kids or boss you will find it more difficult. Motivation runs out fast when it is not really what YOU wanted in the first place.
- Write it down and put it where you can see it with a date to accomplish the goal. Be realistic.
- Break it down in little steps. Make it easy for yourself.
- Create a positive affirmation stated in the future as if you have already accomplished it. An example would be: “ I weight 130lbs. I love exercising and my body is healthy and strong. I eat healthy meals and enjoy my food.” State this affirmation each day at least one time.
- Consider using techniques that help you identify and release any resistance you might have in your sub-conscious mind to achieving your goal. When we fail at a goal that we really want we usually have some sub-conscious resistance to achieving the goal. An example might be: If you wanted to stop smoking on the conscious level but your sub-conscious mind wanted to hang onto the habit to manage stress in your life in a familiar way. If the sub-conscious was not brought on board with the goal then the change will not happen. Some techniques that can help change sub-conscious sabotage are: Hypnosis, Rapid Eye Technology & Emotional Freedom Techniques.
- Reward yourself for any movement in the direction of your goal. Find something that you really want or enjoy and reward yourself with it when you hit big bench marks but remember to reward yourself daily with something smaller each day you move in the right direction.
- If you slip backwards do not give up. Forgive yourself and ask yourself what might be blocking you and if you need to adjust your goal or change the date of accomplishment. Be realistic with yourself about what you can accomplish in the time given.
- In list a friend or coach to help keep you on task and focused. There is safety in numbers. It is great if you have someone who is trying to accomplish the same goal that you can lean on in time of need. If you know someone is waiting for example at the gym to workout with you then you are a lot more likely to follow through. But you can choose someone who is not working toward the same goal but can be a good support in the way you need it. Make sure your personalities match with your motivation style. Do you need a gentle style or a more rigid style of motivation?
- Determine how you are personally motivated. People are either motivated towards something positive or away from something negative. About 70% of us are motivated away from the negative. Find out how you are motivated and use that to your advantage. If you are motivated by positive then really make a big deal of the positive you will receive when you accomplish the goal. If you are motivated by negative then emphasize the negative. However as you move toward the positive rewards of the goal then start to switch your emphasis towards the rewards of the goal and away from the negative of not accomplishing the goal. An example would be if you wanted to lose weight the negative would want to get away from the health problems and the way you look. But as you move closer to the goal start to focus more on how wonderful you are feeling and looking.
- See yourself already there. Take 10 minutes each day to close your eyes and see your goal already achieved. Feel what it feels like to be successful. Involve all of your senses in this imagery. If your sub-conscious mind can see you there and feels good about it you will succeed.

What is Your Vibration?
That is the Question to Know.
By Liesl Anderson
What is your vibration? That is the question to know. Are you vibrating with joy, love, fear, anger, abundance, lack or peace?
The vibrations you put out into the universe bring back to you that which you believe in and feel. If you believe in love then you receive love back. If you believe in hate then you receive hate back.
So how do you know what vibrations you are putting out into the universe? Look at what you are getting in your life to discover what you are putting out. Most of your vibrations are under your conscious level. They are the beliefs you hold about life, people and yourself. In your life you are constantly looking for your beliefs to be confirmed as true. So if you believe that people rip other people off then when you encounter that you will say to yourself and others; "see... that is the way it is." That then is reinforced in your beliefs and energy and you will continue to attract more of that, and the circle continues.
One way to break out of that circle is to use energy clearing techniques such as NLP,Rapid Eye and EFT. Using these techniques you are able to identify when the beliefs started then release the beliefs and feelings,. Then using both your conscious and sub-conscious mind you change your beliefs and feelings and in changing your beliefs and feelings you change your vibration and what you attract into your life.

No More Fear;
Eliminate Your Public Speaking Fear
By Liesl Anderson
Tomorrow is the day. You can't sleep. Your thoughts are racing. Your body begins to shake and tremble. The morning comes greeted by great fear and nausea. You feel paralzyed and have thoughts of escaping either back to bed or to a deserted island. Or maybe you could disappear altogether. What does tomorrow bring? War. Surgery. Court. None of these. Tomorrow brings the expectation that you speak in front of a group large or small. If you have lived this terrifying experience over and over again you are in the majority of people in Amercia. Public Speaking is the number one fear in America even before death. Most of us would rather be in the casket at a funeral then speaking at it.
So why is that? I suggest to you that Public Speaking is not naturally stressful. Stress and fear around public speaking is developed through a few different possibilities. The most common one is a traumatic event while either speaking or performing in front of others. This could be as simple as a show and tell experience in kindergarten where someone may have criticized you or laughted at a mistake you made. It could be a bigger event such as someone calling you names or mocking you while speaking or performing in front of others. There are thousands of possible situations that could create a fear of speaking in public. Each one is a personal experience that creates specific beliefs that then trigger a string of negative thinking that leads to the feeling of fear. The fear reinforces it's self each time it is experienced. You may, as you mature be able to accept on a rational level that the fear is irrational. You can see that it really makes no sense in real life. But knowing the fear is not rational does not make the fear go away. You still experience the negative thinking and fear at the drop of a hat if you are expected to speak in public. You may tell yourself in your mind or out loud that you are fine .That speaking is not scary, that you can do this calmly and easily. But when it comes to it you start to shake, your mind blanks out, your knees get weak, your thoughts race and you are off into the same old pattern. Your experience then just reinforces your beliefs, which lead to the negative thinking which creates your fear and all the symptoms that come along with it . Again.
Let's examine for a minute how our feelings of fear are created. Most people believe that we are subject to our feelings. That we have no real control or choice about what we feel. Feelings are powerful things. They lead to love, marriage, divorce, hate, anger, charity, our choice in jobs, having children and more. Most everything we do is based on our feelings about it. Even when we are thinking about things logically we are still seeing the logic through our own set of feelings. Let's look at an example.
Let's take a woman who loves to go camping and fishing with her husband and kids. One camping trip in the summer they have an unusual experience. A normal activity becomes life threatening. On this trip a friend almost drowns, their boat comes unanchored 2 times on a very large river and has to be retrieved, they are forced to return to dock and navigate this same large river in the pitch dark in order to try and return home. On the way home the wife witnesses her husband fall asleep behind the wheel of the their truck and cross the center line almost fliping their boat and truck, thankfully it was 2am and nobody was on the road. 6 months later this same women develops a crippling fear of driving after dark or riding in the car with her husband. She also over the years develops a signifigent fear of camping. Her life becomes full of fear. This is an expample of how something traumatic can cause crippling fear in someone's life. So how does this apply to the fear of public speaking you ask. Well somewhere along the line you likey developed a belief that is now creating your emotions of fear. This is your perception. As I like to say the glasses you look through in life. We all see things differently, like public speaking, depending on the glasses we are looking through. There are many beliefs that are creating your own personal pair of glasses. The feeling of fear is usually connected to a situation that felt like it treatened your survivial either physically or emotionally. Fear is a natural response to something that could damage you in some way. However when a situation has no real threat in it and the feeling of fear is keeping us from it then it is actually harming us instead of helping us as it is created to do . It is a self-enforcing cycle. It is believed in many schools of thought that we actually hold the fear in our neuropath ways in our brain. And that each time we have a thought, speak a word or experience a feeling we are strengthening that neuropath way. So in order to break out of the damaging cycle of fear we need to interrupt the pattern and release the orginal belief that created the fear the first time.
Once the belief is released then the response of fear is no long needed. This all needs to be done on a sub-conscious and energetic level of the mind and body. Some beliefs I have found common in people experiencing public speaking fear and anxiety are:
It is not oaky to make mistakes
Everyone is judging me
I am not good at speaking
Others will make fun of me
I will fail
I don't have anything important to say
I need to be perfect
I inherited this fear
Each belief is so personal depending on how and when the belief and fear started. It is important to discover your specific beliefs that created your fear. Sometimes it can be difficult to uncover our beliefs because we don't believe that on a consciousl level. But remember it is the sub-conscious in the neuropath ways of the brain that we want to address the beliefs. You may not even be aware on the conscious level that you have some of these beliefs. Once you discover your specific beliefs you can then work to eliminate those beliefs. The techniques that I have found most helpful for releasing and replacing negative beliefs are hypnsois, Rapid Eye Technolgy and Emotional Freedom Technique. In all of these techniques we are working on both the subconscious level and the energetic level of the mind and body.
Hypnosis is used to discover the original event that created the belief and fear the first time. Our subconscious mind remembers all that happens to us in great detail. By contacting the subconscious we are able to ask directly for what we need to know about the fear. Hypnosis is also used to help teach the mind to have a positive experience and to use advanced relaxation techniques.
Rapid Eye Technology is used to facilitate the release of negative beliefs and energy that is being held in the neuropath ways. We use eye movements and energy work to open up the neuropath ways in the brain to allow negative beliefs to be released. Clients frequently report that they actually feel the energy moving and feel a great emotional release while participating in Rapid Eye.
Emotional Freedom Tehcnique(EFT) is used to balance the bodies energy system in relation to a specific thought or belief. It is believed that the emotion we feel comes from an imbalance in our bodies merdian system. The meridian system is the same energy system that acupuncture is based on. The merdians can become either over charged, under charged or blocked. When our energy system is unbalanced then we experience the feelings that come with stress and fear. By lightly tapping on specific energy points while using specific wording we are able to retrain the bodies meridians to stay balanced and in doing so we help to eliminate the negative emotions and feelings that come when the system is unbalanced.
All 3 techniques are natural and safe to use. Each Technique can be learned and used at home to facilitate release and self-empowerment. Self-empowerment is the goal of all my work. I desire my work to allow my clients to feel powerful and in charge of their own work. I am just a support person lightly guiding them when needed.
Public Speaking can become an enjoyable experience for those who are ready to let go of the negative beliefs and feelings that are creating it. There is not sweeter experience then freedom.
