Hypnosis

 

Hypnosis is a interesting topic. Many people have set ideas of what they think is hypnosis and what it is not. The truth about Hypnosis is that it is a naturally occurring state of mind. It is a time when you are so focused on one thing that everything else just kind of fades away. Like when you are watching a movie and don't really notice your surroundings as much, caught up in a book or conversation. You are so focused on one thing that everything else just fades away. When in Hypnosis you are  always able to choose whether to stay in Hypnosis or come out of it.

Hypnosis is usually described by clients as being a very relaxing and soft experience.
Sometimes people even remember everything that was said during a hypnosis session. Some feel like they have just woke up from a day dream. You are not asleep or unconscious. Each person will experience hypnosis in a slightly different way.

In using hypnosis for positive change we purposely induce the state of hypnosis so that we can make suggestions to the sub-conscious mind. We do this with the clients permission so that they can make positive changes. When in hypnosis you can hear and sense everything around you. You are not unconscious or asleep while in hypnosis. Your conscious mind has taken a short rest so that we may put suggestions directly into your sub-conscious mind. Your conscious mind is the part that judges
and compares everything. If we tried to give you a positive suggestion and it did not match with what your conscious mind believes it is rejected. That is why it is necessary to by-pass that part so that you can create a new reality.

Take public speaking fear for example. You could tell your conscious mind a hundred times that you love speaking in public and it is perfectly safe. But it would likely just reject that suggestion because of some past experiences (trapped trauma) where you were critized or made fun of in some way. However when we go past the conscious mind and tell the sub-conscious mind that it is safe to speak in public and to let go of the old fear and belief it then goes about it's job of making that a reality for you. It is doing it's very important job of creating your reality.
